Can't Go Wong With A Contest Win! Maybe You Could Win Too!

Last year I stopped doing blog contests for a bit for a couple reasons.  First was I won a few in a short time and wanted to spread the wealth, and second, I admittedly wasn't reading many blogs and didn't want to be that guy who just read and entered contest blogs.

Since then I have started to read a bit more again and have entered some contests.  I don't enter every one because let's face it, I don't need every card ever and I'd rather be excited to win cards I like than to win cards I'm indifferent to.  However recently I found a card and a contest that I was excited about and I had to jump in.

Sports Card Collectors runs quite a few contests, but this one really caught my eye.  I've stated many times that though I don't care for the team, I actually root for quite a few Cardinals players throughout their history, and one of the current ones I like is Kolten Wong.

SCC ran a contest while reviewing a box of Topps Tier 1 cards, and I will admit I read it because of the contest.  However I also knew that I would likely never buy any Topps Tier 1 cards so I was interested to see what I was going to miss out on.  The reviews on the site are very detailed and you get a good sense if the box is worth the price to you or not.  I'm not one to buy boxes, though I will admit the was the reviews are done, I have been tempted a time or two to explore the option.

This card was SN# 64/199 which is a pretty nice fairly low number.  Overall the card is very nice looking and much better than I thought it would be.  I expected it to look more like and A&G or a Gypsy Queen set, which I don't have a real interest in.

One thing I like about SCC contests as I mentioned is the in depth details on the box break and the odds of pulling cards in the box.  It is a very honest and accurate description of the box, and the best part is the giveaway.   I like the variety of the giveaways and if you haven't checked out the blog yet, I highly recommend it.

I mentioned maybe you could win too, well, there are a few chances you could win.  Sports Card Collectors runs quite a few contests, and not just in baseball or sports for that matter.  Here are a few current contest and reviews currently on the site to check out.

2016 Topps Stadium Club Baseball  this one ends tomorrow so hurry up and enter.

Cryptozoic Big Bang Theory Seasons 6 & 7  this one also ends tomorrow, so again, enter quickly.

2016 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball  This one ends August 13th, so check it out after the two above.

2016 Bowman Inception Baseball  This one ends August 16th, but don't delay, and enter today.

SCC has a few ground rules for the contests, but they are fairly simple and stated at the bottom of each review.  The two big ones are you have a week to claim the contest winnings or it will be relisted.  The other rule is in order to enter, you simply leave a comment on at least one pro and one con for each set being reviewed.  I think that's a fair trade off and shows if you actually read the post or not.

Bonus entries are given for promoting the contests on your blog or tweeting the link on your twitter.  At this point I want to make it known that I'm not writing this as a way to gain extra entries into these contests.  In fact I plan to sit these out to let others win.  From time to time I do promote contests on here and I don't always enter them.  I also sometimes tweet contests from blogs I don't actually enter.  I do it to spread awareness about blogs and bloggers as I think it is a nice random thing to do.

I haven't officially made a decision, but I do plan on start entering more contests on here again, but I still only plan to if I keep reading blogs.  Take a minute and thank the bloggers who are gracious enough to make these contests through blogging or on twitter even if they have no contests running.

Before I go, since I'm talking about Twitter, I have decided to close one of my Twitter pages.  I haven't tweeted from my "official blog twitter" in months and usually tweet new blog posts on my personal page, so I'm closing the other one.  I will probably deactivate it in a couple weeks, but giving a heads up as I plan to work on more redesign of this page and when I do finish it, I won't have that one on there.

That will wrap it up for tonight, thanks for reading and have a great night.  I posted this earlier than normal just so I wouldn't get caught up in something and post late like I have lately.  Thanks for reading, and don't forget to enter those contests!

    1. That is a very good point I did forget to mention. Sometimes I forget about my non-American readers, I apologize for that.

    2. I always feel bad about that too. Sometimes the card I ship is less than the price of shipping it. Someday when I have more money to ship (hopefully will), I gotta make it up to those readers.

I do giveaway redemption card codes once in awhile when I pull them to non-U.S. Readers

  2. Congrats! Thats a nice looking Topps Tier 1 relic. I think those look much nicer than the base Ginter relics.

    1. Thanks, and I agree, Ginter doesn't do anything for me.
