A relic to reveal

I got a card I've been waiting for in the mail a couple days ago I thought I would show off.  It was a card that I fought like crazy to win, then after I won I had some buyers remorse.  It was on Listia and cost me over 2000 points, the most I ever spent on a single transaction, but once it arrived, I am happy I got it.

This is a 2014 Topps relic of Salvador Perez.  Most relic cards seem to be gray or white.  What drew me to the card was that it was a blue piece.  I liked it enough that each time I was outbid, I bid more.  There is only one other Royals player with a card in this subset, and it is James Shields.  I have had my eye on it on COMC for a few days, and if it goes on sale, or I get excited after another Royals win, I may pull the trigger.  It would look nice in my collection I think.

Since this post is a bit thin, I thought I would post some cards of other teams.  I scanned these a few days ago, so all these teams were in the hunt for a World Series spot.

Here are some Orioles and some Cardinals cards.  Odd I put them together and both lost.  I think I scanned them on Tuesday and had a feeling both KC and the Giants would advance.  That reminds me that on Collector's Crack blog, I am one of the very few left in his contest.  In fact, I am the only one that predicted both teams that would make the World Series.  I picked the Royals (of course) to beat the Giants in 6 games.

The lack of better Cardinals cards is because these were closest to me at the time.  No slight to them, but I don't go out of my way to collect too many current Cardinals (besides Tavares and Wong, I think that's it).  Same with the Orioles, these are what I had handy.  These were actually cards waiting to be scanned to be added to the Trading Card Database I think. I haven't scanned cards for the site in so long, these might have been added already.

Here are some Giants cards.  I haven't heard Matt Cain's name in a while, so I had to look it up to see that he got hurt and is out for the year.  I like quite a few Giants players, and chances are if it was any team but the Royals facing them, I might be rooting for them.  I like Pablo and Madison, so these I might have pulled from my keepers binder.  It doesn't have a lot of players in it, and by no means are any indication I plan on starting a PC of them.

During the year, I listened to a few San Jose Giants games on my computer.  One of the players they have is someone I've known since he was a kid.  His name is Chuckie Jones.  I really hope he makes it to the big leagues one day.  I haven't talked to him in a few years, but I need to see if he can sign a couple cards I have of him.

I will close it up by posting a few more Royals cards, including a Stadium card.  It wasn't until recently that I realized so many bloggers like the stadium cards (see I read other blogs).  As the World Series progresses, I will likely post more cards and possibly some of the newspapers from the Kansas City Star.  Not surprisingly, they had to print an extra 45,000 copies just for the KC Metro area the day after the Royals advanced to the World Series.

Thanks for reading, and have a great night.  I might even ALCS created cards up before the World Series begins.  I've just started working on them.  I need to find more pictures of games 3 and 4.

  1. Nice jersey card! I've never tried Listia. One of these days I'll have to give it a look.
