Still Celebrating

I won't be long today as storms are expected all night.  As my sister told me "that's what happens when the Royals win a game", I couldn't help but laugh.

I was thinking about the Topps highlights sets and then found pictures from last nights game, so I decided to make my own versions of some cards.  I hope you enjoy.

We begin with the Royals mascot, Sluggerrr!  He was in the tunnel during the National Anthem, and someone snapped a photo.  I have to be honest, I wish people wouldn't take pictures during the Anthem, but I'll allow it this time (like I make the decisions, lol).

Next we will go with the new phenom in Kansas City- Brandon Finnegan.  It might be a bit premature, but I have already labeled him the next Bret Saberhagen.  Finnegan was pitching in the College World Series in June!  I like the front, but I made too much of a border.  I did it because I made the picture too small.  As I work on GIMP and Paint a little more, I hope to get better at making these.

The back is ok, I might have put too much wording on it, but I'm fine with it.  The Winstead's logo is to create a local feel like the old promo cards from various restaurants.  They are a restaurant based in Kansas City.  If I made more backs, I would have put it on all the backs.

The Royals win!  The photo is too big, but I was tired of making cards at this point, so I tweaked it from an earlier design I created to make this.  Here is Salvador Perez getting mobbed by the team after the win.

I just noticed I didn't center Salvador's name on the top of the card.  I might redo this.  I like this card enough that if I find a decent card stock, I might print this card for private use.  I have thought about making some cards anyways.

That's all I did as the storms were coming, but I did make some other cards earlier this year that I might as well show off.

Unfinished Salvador Perez card

Possibly the worst card I've made.

Made about a month into the season, obviously before he was traded.

Another card I might print out, I've always like El Hombre!

I made these at the beginning of the season, before I knew Maxwell would spend the year in the minors.  This picture is from last year.

I even made a card back for me. I never finished it, but I liked how it turned out.  I never made a front because I never found a photo I liked.

I did create this one a few years back, but I don't like it much.

Anyways, thanks for reading, its about to storm again, but I promise I have better posts coming.  Tomorrow I might not have one because game one of the ALDS, but if I do, I might make a short one.  Have a great night.

  1. Congrats what a game! Truly a fight to the finish! Our teams made the playoffs! Your card designs have potential. Finnegan and Gatorade are pretty cool but I like yours the best. Great card back! Enjoy the playoffs!
