Comic Book Week- Day 4

After a successful day 3, let's see how day 4 compares.

Today will be a good day if you like Wolverine, two different comics featuring him.  I don't follow him much, and I'm okay to freely admit I never seen the movies.

Yesterday we featured Mortal Kombat, today is part 2!  I don't remember it much but I don't think there was much of a difference between 1 and 2.  It was available for all platforms.  Remember when Game Boys were the coolest?  I never had one, but played it a couple times.  I wasn't real impressed with it so I was okay with not having it.  I did want a Super NES though.

I take it that Wolverine wasn't aiming for the kids market as much.  I remember watching Natural Born Killers on Cinemax one night probably when I was 15 or 16.  I liked it a lot.  In fact a few years later I bought it on DVD.  Probably in 2004 or so in the $5 bin at Walmart.  I don't think I've ever watched that DVD, if so, maybe once.  I might watch it sometime soon, just to see if it was as good as I remember.  I doubt it, but hey it had Juliette Lewis when I was still a fan of hers, so it has that going for it.

Marvel trading cards.  Nothing really for me, but I was puzzled by why they included toothpaste in the ad.  Am I missing something here?

That's it for the first book, lets see book two.

Wolverine looks like he's watching an exciting football game.  Since I have no emotional attachment to his escapades, I can't tell if this is a classic cover or not, I kind of doubt it though.

Another movie with Woody Harrelson, man he struck while the iron was hot.  This movie was a far cry from Natural Born Killers, but I have seen this many more times.  Oddly enough though, I don't own it on DVD I think.  If I do own it, I don't remember when or how I got it.  I watch it when its on TV, that's good enough for me.

This comic was the only one in the batch that wasn't in great shape.  Which explains this ad.  I remember playing a Die Hard game, I thought it was the trilogy, but can't remember if it was on Playstation.  My friend had it, I just remember Samuel L. Jackson constantly saying "Hey man, let me drive".  I literally remember nothing else about it.  As for the movies, I love them all (well, I haven't seen the newest one) including Die Hard With A Vengeance and Live Free or Die Hard.  Honestly I think more people would like Live Free if it wasn't attached to the series.  I thought it had a good plot and was better than a lot of people made it out to be.

I like Barq's better than A&W (unless it actually comes FROM A&W, then Barq's has no chance), but compared to tattoos, this blow Barq's away.  This is another item I might have to look up on ebay.

Last scan of the day...

Hmm, I never heard of it.  Maybe it would have been something I liked, but I doubt it.  If I couldn't get into Tomb Raider and Lara Croft, I doubt this would appeal to me.

So today had some strong ads, and brings back some memories, this was a pretty fun one.  We even got to see some trading cards, which is always good.  We'll see if that can continue tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and have a great night.

  1. Not sure how serious that toothpaste question is, but my guess is that it's a tube of blue paint because the Hildebrandts are pretty famous for their paintings.

  2. Yep, Greg & Tim Hildebrandt are huge names in Fantasy circles... They're best known for their many "Lord Of The Rings" paintings (and the calendars which feature those paintings) and I think they did the original Star Wars movie poster.

"Onslaught"... The word sends shivers down my spine. That was the "Major crossover event" that pretty much put me off of major crossover events. Lots of pointless beating-the-snot-out-of-each-other, lots of subplots that demand that you read each and every title involved. It went a long way towards putting me off of Marvel.

    1. I should make that clearer... "Onslaught" is hyped on the second Wolverine cover.

  3. First time reading these comments all week, first off thanks shlabotnikreport for all the info and comments. I don't have much to add besides thanks or yep, so I haven't replied to everything.

Raz, that makes a lot of sense of it being paint. I'm not much of a painter or anything so I don't know if I ever saw paint in tubes like that before. I was half-joking about it being toothpaste, but did have a feeling it could have been paint though. As for the Hildebrandt's, I don't know anything about them, but its cool they have such a following. It's nice fans respect them so much.

I hope everyone is enjoying these. I did some digging today and found a couple more, but I'll hold off showing those. Maybe for next year if I have another week of this.
